So the DVD project is progressing and it’s about that time for me to start designing the artwork for the DVD menu and the booklet. I also need to design a website for the project. The problem is, I know nothing about the subject matter, and the person “in charge” of the project knows less than nothing about technology. So I’m taking it one step at a time. Right now, I’m looking for imagery and texture and patterns relative to Guinea. I am also requesting for ANY photos that may have been taken on the last trip to the area. It’s very difficult trying to do something like this with no resources.  So right now, I’m looking at a lot of photos and trying to get inspired and get a feel for what the design will look like.

Well the DVD project is still in the editing phase. I think its finally coming along but it isn’t read for the work I need to do. I have also been asked to help market the DVD once it is complete, along with designing the website for the master drummer in Africa. A couple of things come to mind: first, asking ME to market anything is a hoot, but I understand the rationale here. I am very adept (comparatively speaking) in the Web 2.0 world from my days as an instructional designer in my past life. And the goal here is to spend very little money on this – hence the need for “viral marketing” using Web 2.0 tools.

The online business my boyfriend and I want to create has been put slightly on the back burner as well. It seems that the status of the guy who was pegged to help us program is up in the air right now. But the good news is that he seems interested in doing it either way. So its just a matter of time until he knows something about his own personal status before he can commit and start helping. So its still simmering…but the heat has just been turned down a little bit more.

Not certain how long it will take, but my boyfriend is working on editing video and creating a DVD for a friend/teacher of his, and they have asked for my help in creating the graphics and menus for the DVD, as well as the booklet/insert. This will be an African drumming instructional DVD featuring a master drummer from Guinea. It could be a long way off before my assistance is needed because there are issues right now in getting the raw video that was filmed in Africa. But it seems like an interesting project and one that I welcome as I’ve worked a little in DVD title and menu creation…but nothing as formal as this.
