This week’s IF theme is “baby.” Wow…I must say that lately there are very few IF themes that I have really grabbed me. Ah well. I’ll give it a few more weeks and if the situation doesn’t changes, I’ll stop participating.

Anyway, this week I am in the middle of trying to get ready for an Adobe Flash training I am doing this summer in Florida. Very exciting stuff. Very happy I got the opportunity to do this.

Even though I used to teach Flash, I haven’t been in the classroom in over 3 years. Also, I have no opportunity to work in Flash in my current job. Flash CS3 is a very different animal and I had to learn ActionScript all over again because version 3 is so different. Not that I’ve “learned” it or anything….not to any great degree. But I have learned it well enough to teach the class in July - the partcipants will learn Flash and basic ActionScripting to build a simple website.

So my first version of the project is done and even though it’s not an “illustration” per se…I thought it fit right into this week’s IF theme - baby. The website I created is about my “fur babies” Milo and Ruby - my two Cairn Terriers.

It’s funny, because the website was actually hard for me to create because I had to keep it s-i-m-p-l-e. I had to keep scaling it back and deleting features. I still think the development is too complicated for a basic Flash class. So I’ll probably create another version of it and take out some of the bells and whistles. Also, the videos are horrible. The quality of the video themselves is bad. So I need to get something else. Adding video has to be part of the training session, but the quality of this is terrible. It loads funny too. Back to the drawing board…but in the meantime, enjoy my two fur babies in Cairntopia.
